40 Days in the Word
40 Days in the Word is a Kentwood Community Church-Wide experience that will begin on the weekend of January 14/15. The overarching goal for this experience is that every KCCer will grow spiritually as we LOVE, LEARN, and LIVE God’s Word.To get the most out of 40 Days in the Word, we encourage everyone to:
- Weekly attend one of our weekend worship services, 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:15 and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday
- Join a 40 Days in the Word Life Group (click here)
- Complete a daily devotional reading in the 40 Days in the Word participant’s guide
- Do a Micah 6:8 Project (as individuals or with your Life Group), a service project that is acting on God’s call to “act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God.”
Frequently Asked Questions:
When does it start?
January 14/15 weekend worship services kick off the experience.
What do we mean by an “all-church” experience?
Children, students and adults will all be doing the 40 Days in the Word in large-group worship experiences as well as small group environments. No other adult discipleship classes will be happening during the 40 Days to encourage as many people as possible to participate in a 40 Days Life Group.
Where do I get a participant’s guide, and how much does it cost?
Workbooks will be available at The Source after each of the weekend worship services or at the church offices during business hours on weekedays. Suggested donation per participant guide is $10.
When do we start the daily devotions in the Participant’s Guide?
You will find a daily reading plan in the front cover of the guide. Regardless of what day your Life Group meets, we will all stick with the same daily devotional plan. Day 1 for the devotionals is January 16.
When will I start going to my 40 Days in the Word Life Group?
During the week of Sunday, January 15.
Do I have to belong to a Life Group to participate in 40 Days in the Word?
It will be in the Life Groups that you will receive teaching that is vital to understanding the lessons learned each week. Also in Life Groups you will discuss what you are learning in your daily workbook. This time of sharing will definitely be a time where our church grows in depth and maturity. Several new groups are starting, including some mid-sized groups on site at KCC. To check out group options, go to (click here).
I do not belong to a Life Group what should I do?
If you need help getting into a Life Group, we will help you find one! Go to (click here) to browse options and sign up. If you would like additional help finding a group that works for you, call 455-1740, ext. 534.
What if I want to invite a family member/friend after 40 Days in the Word has started, will they feel left out?
They should not feel left out. These weekly lessons stand alone, meaning they do not build upon each other. They can get a book, find a group and get plugged in even if they are joining us during week 3, or even week 5!
Could you explain the Micah 6:8 project?
During our 40 Days in the Word Life Groups, families and individuals will select, plan, and initiate a group outreach project that we are calling The Micah 6:8 Assignment. Micah 6:8 "He has show you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” The final weekend of this series (February 18-19) we will be sharing Micah 6:8 Assignment stories during the weekend worship services and celebrate how KCCers have lived out God’s Word.
We want to provide you with ideas for your Micah 6:8 project: (click here).
