Refugee Ministry - Wayfinders

Wayfinders-- Sharing God's love with Refugees through Help, Hospitality and Hope

Wayfinders Refugee Ministry was established in 2008 as a ministry of Kentwood Community Church in Kentwood, Michigan to build bridges between the Church and the refugees of Grand Rapids. We partner with the agencies and charitable non-profits to help facilitate practical ways that followers of Jesus can love and serve refugees.

Wayfinders volunteers assist refugee families in navigating their new life in America and
dedicate their time and talent to manifest the love and mercy of Jesus Christ in
angible ways.

Meeting physical needs by providing furniture and clothing, toys and
School supplies, transportation to appointments, and more.

Meeting emotional and social needs through friendship, home visits,
inviting families into our homes, and hosting local outings.

Meeting spiritual needs by offering environments and opportunities
to learn and grow in the knowledge of Christ through Bible
fellowships and community gatherings.

This year Grand Rapids, Michigan will become home for approximately 600 new refugees who have been forced from their homelands. Many have lived in dismal refugee camps, some for as long as 20 years.

They are arriving in the United States every week from some of the worst places in the world and settling into apartment communities in our neighborhoods. Often times arriving with no warm clothing or other necessities for the West Michigan weather.
