A SPORTS MARATHON TO REMEMBER

... Yesterday was a great harvest day! Beautiful sunny skies encouraged over 630 TEENS (average was 350) to come to this activity! It is the soccer and volleyball tournament for schools, churches and non Christian associations, from the Porto Alegre area. How exciting it was to see everybody in silence at the gym, listening to the Gospel message. At the end, over 40 came forward making a public decision for Christ - PRAISE THE LORD! We are so excited, thanks for your prayers!      

THE "CHICKEN TRUCK" - GOD'S PLAN FOR SPECIAL TEENS

 Just wanted to share a little inspiring story: as all the teams arrived yesterday morning, I noticed entering the camp a little truck loaded with chicken boxes and athletes (see photos). In big events like this, I'm usually near the gate helping park buses and cars (it gives me the chance to be the first to say hello!), so when I saw it, I immediately took my camera to register the bizarre scene: kids jumping off a full loaded chicken truck... Later in the day, after the Gospel message, a teen came to me and said he was on that chicken truck! His name was Pedro, their team practices soccer every Tuesday in a local gym near downtown Porto Alegre. The other day they saw a poster promoting a "sports event" at Word of Life and decided to participate for the first time. As non Christians they didn't know where it was neither what kind of event...  Well, yesterday morning they took an early bus to get to the camp, unfortunately by mistake, they caught  the wrong one and ended up in a total different neighborhood, many miles away. After trying with no success to find out where to go and maybe catch another bus... a chicken truck stopped and asked if they needed a ride... they explained something about a sports tournament at Word of Life somewhere... surpriselly this man not only took them in the right direction, but dropped them inside the property, on time to play their first match. The touching thing for me was that when they jumped off the truck and tried to give the man some money for the ride, he didn't take it, instead gave them a tract saying: "look for Jesus and follow Him..." (in his words...) - WOW! Who was that man? We don't know but somehow he was a believer (also knew WOL) and decided to take his time to drive these kids from a different part of town to our camp, making sure they would just play but hear the Gospel - fulfilling God's plan for their lives' that day. Well, over 40 kids came to Christ yesterday and that man was God's instrument to "rescue" these kids. They were literally lost, got found and had the chance to meet Jesus at the camp. God's plans are irresistible! He is always at work, even when we don't noticed.. We have no idea how hard He is at work right now to accomplish His holy purposes in our lives (and ministry, like the Sports Marathon)! Thank you for your prayers - miracles happened everyday and through your prayers you are a vital part of it - THANKS!  

PLEASE PRAY FOR BRAZIL'S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

 This coming month of October (3rd) we are voting for president in Brazil... according to the official polls, it seems like a communist lady, Dilma Rousseff (same party as our current president Lula), will win the election! As Christians, we are very concern about the implications of this election and ask for your prayers.
